Weekly Cleaning Schedule
Simple everyday tasks to keep your home clean and your spirits high
If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that a cluttered home equals a cluttered mind. A sure sign that I’m feeling off or sad, is a mountain of laundry and my cat’s hair dust balls covering my stairs. Sadly, the mess only contributes to the struggles with a mountain to do list of tasks.
Why Not Hire Cleaners?
I could and I have in the past. Cleaning people offer an incredible service for those without the time or perhaps desire to clean. Many people may not have the physical ability to manage cleaning tasks, so a cleaner can be such a gift!
I used to have a team of ladies that would come to my home every two weeks and clean. In fact, I’ve had a few house cleaners over the past decade. The feeling of coming home to a completely clean home from top to bottom felt amazing for a day or two until it turned into a disaster zone.
If you have cleaners than you likely know how things go before the cleaners show up…you might let things pile up for two weeks and do the mad dash to throw everything back in their place. The clean that happens before the cleaners come. Just me?
I wanted my home to feel clean all the time - not just every two weeks. Especially when I realized how important a clean home was to my SOUL. Dramatic much Joanna!? Which is why it’s important to me to maintain a clean home daily.
Consistent Daily Cleaning
I received a lot of questions about how to find the time to do these cleaning tasks. I’ll be the first to acknowledge that I’m lucky to have a spouse to support me and help with tasks like groceries, cooking dinner, making school lunches, etc. His support frees up time for me to put in 45 - 60 min a day of taking care of our home.
I’ve gotten really good and setting goals and consistently following through with them. Making my cleaning tasks a non-negotiable item on my schedule helps with that. Not to say I’m a total hard ass. Life is life. Skipping a day will not send your home crashing down into a hot mess.
Do I have to do all the cleaning myself?
How you and your family divide the tasks in the cleaning schedule below is completely up to you! My husband is working longer hours and has a long commute so I currently do these tasks myself.

What if this list seems like more than I can do in a day?
You can definitely divide these tasks over two weeks instead of one and still have a clean well maintained home. Most people have a cleaner come every two weeks anyways, so feel free to break Monday into two days, Tuesday into two days etc. I would try to keep the vacuuming and washing the floor together so that they get done consecutively.

Your house is inevitably going to look different than mine. You might want to add or subtract items from this cleaning list to fit your lifestyle and home.
