90 Day Keto Challenge - Week Nine
Week nine - 90 day keto challenge
Wow, time just seems to be FLYING by. We finished the kids first week of homeschooling this week and it’s going okay.
Carter is in grade one, so all of his work is mostly done over google meet with his teacher. The difficulty is getting him on and off the calls all day and redirecting him back to the call when he gets distracted.
My daughter is in grade 5, and while she can stand on her own getting onto her calls, she tends to get more distracted and will leave assignments unfinished.
The last time we did remote learning, I had to take a day off work just to sit with Taylor and walk her through each of her assignments to get her caught back up.
In fact, I just spent the past hour making sitting with her and step-by-step walking her through the work against her will. Oh the joy!
I heard they won’t likely go back to school until September, and I’m pretty surprised we haven’t received a back to school date. I’m not sure how some families are coping - especially those who can’t work from home.
Reminder, this was my covid weight loss plan
The Goal: Lose 15 lbs in 90 days by following a ketogenic diet, tracking my food intake, and moving my body.
Diet: Keto with a high protein focus. I will track my macros every single day. I will do some intermittent fasting and extended fasting. Click here for my post on what a full day of following a keto diet looks like for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Exercise: 1,000 jumps a day with my jump rope AND a minimum of 30 minutes additional activity. Example: walking the dog, strength training at the gym, gymnastics (once restrictions lift, I’m registered for a weekly gymnastics class for adults!)
Accountability: I will share an update every week on Sunday evening, here on my blog to let you know how the week went and share a weekly weigh in. Once a month, I will update my photos and measurements with before and after comparisons.
I will be so thrilled with myself when I accomplish these 90 days. I hope you will follow along on my journey!

Steve got his vaccine on Thursday!
The Ontario government lowered the age for people to get the AstraZeneca vaccine on Monday and Steve was able to get his shot by Thursday which was super fast. He tossed and turned all Thursday night with the chills or feeling too hot. Needless to say be both got very little sleep! He felt like he had a very bad hangover and 4 days later his arm still feels weird.
If you have yet to get your vaccine, the tips I received from my Instagram community was to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, and to take Tylenol after your shot every 4-5 hours. That being said, many people have not noticeable symptoms or concerns after getting their vaccine. Hopefully that will be me!!!
Sharing my thoughts on getting vaccinated has left me open to judgement and rude comments (shocker). It’s funny because while I can express my respect for people who have chosen not to get the vaccine for themselves, it seems like there is a subset of the anti-vax community that feels the need to call anyone choosing to get a vaccine “sheep, idiots” or some other comment about my eagerness to be part of a science experiment.
It would be nice to get respect for my decision but, I will continue to rise above the noise and the haters because I am always going to keep my head high. Their shitty behaviour says more about them that it does about me - and that’s a fact!
Diet and Movement
I’ve found a lot of peace this week with where I’m at with my fitness and health journey. I’m not sure if I’ve come to reflect on the fact that things have just been a lot different this year, and without my typical outlets, things have gotten a bit off track. We all ebb and flow. Sometimes we feel like being on fire!!!! and other times we’re just not in the right space for that. Being content with where you’re at is an important part of any journey.
I really can’t wait for the gym to open up again….but all in good time.
I made better choices this week. I refrained from doing any extended fasts for quick weight loss. I really just enjoy eating haha, though I may do a 48 hour fast one of these days.
I’m going to work on building a list of keto recipes and foods that I really enjoy. I made my greek chicken yesterday (recipe to come) and it’s heaven on earth. I could eat it every night for supper and feel satisfied. Pizza doesn’t leave me satisfied - it leaves me feeling gross.
I killed my workouts this week - sticking to my 1,000 jumps and 30 minutes of additional exercise. It feels great to get that movement in, even when I REALLY don’t feel like it which is often! The earlier I can get my workout in the better though! I even got out long boarding which is SO MUCH FUN!
